Man killed as lorry overturned at Pontefract is named

A driver who was killed when his lorry overturned in high winds on the A1 in Pontefract has been named by police.

John Higham, 61, from Preston, was travelling northbound near junction 39 when the lorry ended up on its side on the carriageway.

West Yorkshire Police said Mr Higham died at the scene. No-one else was injured.

Witnesses or anyone with information are being asked to contact the major collision inquiry team.
