Kirkheaton Liberal WMC licence suspended over abuse

A club in West Yorkshire has been forced to stop selling alcohol for six weeks after complaints about bad behaviour at the venue.

Kirklees Council's Licensing Panel suspended the licence of Kirkheaton Liberal Working Men's Club on New Road after a number of incidents.

West Yorkshire Police told the panel there had been threatening behaviour towards nearby residents.

No-one from the club was available for comment.

The club's operation had previously been subject to scrutiny by the licensing panel last October after complaints.

Kirklees Licensing Officer Vicky Iredale attended the meeting and told councillors she had been abused during a visit to the club by some customers.
