Father denies Bristol boy's garden pond manslaughter

The father and grandmother of a toddler who drowned in a garden pond in Bristol have denied his manslaughter.

Two-year-old Daniel Marshall Rees-Smith was found in the water at his grandmother's home in Mount Hill Road, Hanham, on 4 June 2010.

The boy's grandmother Hilary Rees, 44, and his father Andrew Marshall, 21, denied the charges at Bristol Crown Court.

The were both released on conditional bail. A trial date has not been fixed.

Daniel's mother, Charlotte Rees-Smith, 19, who is also charged with manslaughter, was excused from attending the hearing.
