The cause of a house fire in Bristol in which two boys died is not being treated as suspicious.

McKenzie Whitton, seven, and his five-year-old brother Charlie died in the fire at the house on Merryweather Close, Bradley Stoke, on Saturday.

Avon and Somerset Police said a full investigation had been carried out and they were "satisfied" the blaze was not suspicious.

The deaths have now been referred to the Avon coroner.

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue said the cause of the fire had yet to be established.

"Due to the level of damage the investigation is painstaking," he said.

"We have to be meticulous - there are lots of different aspects which have to be worked through."
