Three lorries crash on M4 near Bristol

Three men have been taken to hospital after three lorries collided on the M4 near Bristol.

One lane of the westbound carriageway between junctions 19, for the M32, and 20, at Almondsbury, remains closed following the crash at about 1500 BST.

A father and son were travelling in one lorry and the son was taken to hospital with significant head and chest injuries, the ambulance service said.

The father and another lorry driver went to hospital as a precaution.

The driver of the third lorry was unhurt.

All three lanes of the carriageway were initially closed until the lorries could be moved on to the hard shoulder.

Avon and Somerset Police said the average speed of traffic using the open lane was 25mph.
