Firefighters worked through the night to tackle a blaze at a derelict hotel in Weston-super Mare.

Crews were called to the Bayside Hotel on Manilla Crescent at about 2235 BST on Saturday.

An Avon Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said eight fire engines had been sent to the scene.

An investigation into the cause of the fire has started, she said. The hotel has been closed for about five years and has been occupied by squatters.
