Bids are being taken to redevelop a set of derelict buildings in Bath previously used as a community centre.

The Longacre buildings in London Road are owned by the council who could either sell them to developers or return them to community use.

Local councillor Lisa Brett said she wanted to make sure whoever took them over would "do something for the area".

"We're encouraging local communities to put forward their bids to look at these properties," she said.

Councillor David Bellotti, the lead member for community resources, said the authority wanted to ensure the buildings were put to good use.

"It's been left for many years derelict and I think the council has not addressed this issue properly at all.

"We shall be looking at the offers at the end of September and it won't necessarily be the highest financial bid that wins."
