Burning paint causes Cumberland Basin road closures

Several roads were closed around Bristol following a fire in a shipping container filled with paint.

The police and fire services were called to the Cumberland Basin at about 21:15 BST on Saturday after reports of "thick billowing smoke".

The fire was found in a shipping container filled with paint which was burning and extinguished by midnight.

The roads were closed for several hours because the smoke had caused "dangerous driving conditions", a spokesman said.

It is not yet known how the fire started.
