Bogus priest tricks elderly in Somerset out of money

A man posing as a priest has tricked elderly residents out of money in Somerset.

The man claims to be a priest and in need of money, police said.

Police said he persuaded a woman in her 80s to lend him £200 to fix his car so he could attend a funeral. A man aged 80 lent him £400 for vehicle repairs.

The money was not repaid. He is described as white, aged about 50, 5ft 6ins (1.7m) tall with collar-length grey hair. He has an Irish accent.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
