Attempted murder charge after car hits woman in Bristol

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was hit by a car which mounted a pavement in Bristol.

The woman was left with serious leg injuries after being knocked down in Canon Street in Bedminster at about 13:10 BST on Sunday. The vehicle was then driven off.

Luke Julius, 25, from Bristol, was remanded in custody by magistrates and is to appear at crown court next week.

The woman, in her 20s, is still being treated in hospital.
