Bristol man's death treated as suspicious

The death of a man in Bristol who died in hospital after suffering serious injuries is being treated as suspicious, police confirmed.

Officers were called to reports of an assault at a property in Filton Avenue, Horfield, on Saturday at 17:00 GMT.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary but died later.

A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

The property in Filton Avenue has been sealed off and the road has been closed to allow for detailed forensic investigations.

A post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death is due to take place later.
