Bristol Christian faith group opens book shop chain

A Bristol-based group has started its own chain of bookshops after concerns over the number of Christian retailers closing down across the city.

Aslan Christian Books has opened three stores in Bristol, Bath and Keynsham, two of which are based in churches to save on shop rents.

Reverend Richard Greatrex, said: "We believe there's still space for Christian bookshops within our cities."

The hope is the store will also foster a sense of community among Christians.

"I know the world has changed and there is more internet buying around but there are still a lot of folk around who want to come in and handle the books, look at the books, talk to people who know about the books and find that sense of community you get in bookshops," added Mr Greatrex.
