Creation of Stoke Lodge parish council approved

A South Gloucestershire community whose residents claim not enough tax is being spent there, is a step closer to having a new parish.

Councillors from Stoke Lodge and The Common say money raised there is spent in neighbouring Patchway.

South Gloucestershire council's regulatory committee has approved the creation of Stoke Lodge parish council.

The final sign-off is expected to be given at a meeting of all councillors in May 2013.

A petition calling for a new parish council to be formed was signed by more than 500 people last year.

Eight out of 10 people who replied to a recent consultation had backed the move.
