Police are trying to identify a cyclist who is in a critical condition in hospital after falling from his bike in Bristol.

The man, who is white and about 6ft tall (182cm), came off his red mountain bike on the Portway, beneath Avonmouth Bridge, on Wednesday morning.

He is aged in his late 40s to early 50s and has a tattoo of a dagger through a white rose on his left forearm.

He went into the bakery on Shirehampton High Street shortly before the fall.
