Project to encourage running in Bristol gets underway

A pilot project to encourage people in Bristol to get involved in running is underway.

National athletics organisation Run England said it chose Bristol for the scheme as it already had a strong running culture.

Project co-ordinators have been working alongside Bristol City Council to enlist local running advocates to oversee events.

Running groups and workshops will be taking place in the city until mid-May.

Run England's Charlotte Fisher said: "Bristol lends itself as a fantastic place to run, with great parks and open spaces and paths along the harbour side.

"We're trying to grow the number of groups and opportunities for people to run."
