South Gloucestershire new homes proposal approved by inspector

More than 28,000 new homes may be built in South Gloucestershire after the council's plan was approved by a government planning inspector.

The plan also looks to create three new enterprise areas focused on Filton, Severnside and Emersons Green.

A spokesman for the authority said the inspector's decision was "a significant milestone" for the strategy.

The plan going up to 2027 will be considered for adoption at the next full council meeting on 11 December.

"This 'plan-led' approach to development will enable the council to work with developers and the local community to deliver the new jobs, homes and infrastructure South Gloucestershire will need in the coming years, while protecting the area from development in less appropriate locations," a council spokesman said.
