HMP Leyhill prisoner Dean Evans admits escaping
A prisoner has admitted absconding from an open prison in South Gloucestershire and had his sentence increased as a result.
Dean Evans, 36, went missing from HMP Leyhill in April and was recaptured two weeks later in the village of Alveston, five miles (8km) away.
He was subsequently charged with escape from lawful custody.
At Bristol Crown Court he pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to four months imprisonment.
Evans was originally imprisoned for making threats to kill, assault and criminal damage in Southampton.
