A burst water main has disrupted supply to up to 1,500 homes and businesses in Bristol.

Bristol Water said the pipe near the Bromley Heath roundabout burst earlier, leaving properties with no supply and others with low pressure.

The company said it had now "re-zoned customers to alternative supplies".

Areas worst affected were Bradley Stoke, Stoke Gifford, Winterboune, Fishponds, Staple Hill, Easton and Eastville.

A Bristol Water spokesman said engineers had isolated the affected pipe and it was being repaired.

Part of the A4174 Avon ring road is closed to traffic, but one lane on the Bromley Heath to Hambrook route has now reopened.
