White paint has been thrown on to the driveway of Shrien Dewani's house in Bristol.

Mr Dewani, 34, who was cleared by a court in South Africa of arranging the murder of his wife Anni in 2010, returned to the UK on Wednesday.

His parents have arrived at the house in Westbury-on-Trym and Mr Dewani is expected to return later.

Mr Dewani was extradited in April for the trial, which was thrown out at Western Cape High Court on Monday.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said it was aware of an incident outside a house in Westbury-on-Trym and officers were investigating.

Judge Jeanette Traverso cleared Mr Dewani after ruling the prosecution's case against the care home boss was flawed.

Judge Traverso described evidence from a key prosecution witness as "riddled with contradictions".

Mr Dewani had always denied plotting to arrange the murder of his wife, who was shot after their taxi was hijacked on honeymoon in South Africa in 2010.
