Three police officers and a PCSO facing misconduct in public office charges over how they dealt with a man murdered in Bristol have appeared in court.

Bijan Ebrahimi, who was wrongly branded a paedophile, was beaten to death and his body set on fire in July 2013.

He had made several calls to Avon and Somerset Police.

PCs Kevin Duffy, Helen Harris and Leanne Winter and PCSO Andrew Passmore appeared at Bristol Crown Court. They are next due in court on 29 May.

Andrew Passmore is also charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice, and a provisional trial date of 9 November has been set for all four defendants.

Lee James, 24, of Capgrave Crescent, who admitted Mr Ebrahimi's murder, was jailed for a minimum of 18 years in November 2013.

Stephen Norley, 25 and also of Capgrave Crescent, admitted assisting an offender and was jailed for four years.
