A "severe" blaze has been tackled in a building containing residential flats on the seafront at Weston-super-Mare.

More than 50 firefighters have been at the scene on Beach Road.

Crews found the fire on the second and third floors of the building following a call just before 17:00 BST, but the blaze was under control by 21:00 BST, Avon Fire and Rescue said.

The building was used for commercial purposes on the ground floor and flats above, it added.
