Man hurt in Cambridgeshire 'unprovoked' knife attack

A 26-year-old man has been hurt in what police called an "unprovoked" knife attack in a Cambridgeshire village.

The man was walking through an alleyway in Burwell, near Cambridge, on 8 August, police said.

He was approached by a man who asked him for a lighter and then attacked him with a knife. The victim managed to run away with minor injuries.

The attacker was described as black, about 6ft 5in tall (1.9m), of stocky build and wore a white hooded top.

"This was an unprovoked attack and has left the victim very shaken," Det Con Gayle Dabney said.

"It was lucky that he did not receive more serious injuries and I would urge anyone with information about the attacker to contact police."
