The number of meat thefts in Cambridgeshire this year is set to be the highest recorded, police have said.

Cambridgeshire Police is one of the few forces in the country to record meat thefts.

In 2008 there were 250 reported, in 2009 there were 299 incidents and so far in 2010 police have dealt with 260 cases.

Some supermarkets put security tags on expensive meat cuts to prevent people stealing them.
