Straw bale fire in Whittlesey is left to burn

A fire involving 600 bales of straw in a field in Cambridgeshire has been left to burn itself out.

Firefighters were called to Turningtree Road, Whittlesey, near Peterborough, at about 0540 BST.

Farm machinery was used to spread out the straw and bring the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and police said about £15,000 of damage has been caused.

Firefighters will return to the fire on Tuesday evening.
