A body pulled from the River Nene in Peterborough has been confirmed as that of a 16-year-old boy who went missing last month.

Cambridgeshire Police said Theo Kawala's body was pulled from the river on Thursday night.

The teenager went missing after being dropped off by his father in the city for a night out on 18 February.

His body was spotted by a member of the public near the Charters Bar pub boat in Peterborough.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Monday. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Ch Insp Kevin Vanterpool, of Cambridgeshire Police, said: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank the community and the media for all their help and support.

"The family have suffered a tragic loss and our thoughts are with them and all Theo's friends."
