Factory fire shuts main rail line in Peterborough

Firefighters tackled a blaze at a fruit and vegetable packing factory near a rail line in Cambridgeshire overnight.

Six crews were called to Eagle Business Park in Yaxley near Peterborough when explosions, believed to be gas cylinders, were heard at 0310 GMT.

Train services on the adjacent mainline were suspended for more than four hours but have now resumed.

Crews tackled flames that set several lorries and wooden pallets on fire. They also dealt with gas cylinders.

No-one was reported injured in the fire and an investigation is to be carried out to discover the cause.
