Bid made for £5m for 'sustainable' transport

A bid has been made for almost £5m to improve public transport and cycling in Cambridgeshire.

The county council has developed the £4,981,000 bid with the district councils and Cambridgeshire Horizons, which oversees growth in the county.

The bid includes improving Wisbech bus station and March, Whittlesey and Manea railway stations.

Transport links to and from Chatteris town centre and Doddington Hospital would also be boosted.

Schemes to encourage car sharing or alternatives to the car for commuters would also be established.
