Fatal crash on dual carriageway in Cambridgeshire

At least one person has been killed in a crash on the A47 in Cambridgeshire, police have said.

Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle collision on the Thorney bypass at Old Knarr Fen Drove at 1226 BST on Saturday.

The section of eastbound dual carriageway between Thorney and Guyhirn is expected to remain closed until 2030 BST and diversions are in place.

Drivers have been advised to avoid the area or face long delays.

A spokeswoman for Magpas air ambulance said one of its volunteer doctors and a paramedic had attended the crash, involving a motorcycle and a car.

"Sadly the driver of the motorbike died at the scene. Our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time," she said.

The driver of the car sustained minor injuries, she added.
