A1 driver sought over fail-to-stop in Cambridgeshire

A man is in a life-threatening condition in hospital in Cambridgeshire after being hit by a vehicle on the A1.

The man was filling up his car with petrol from a jerry can in a lay-by off the northbound carriageway at Eaton Socon on Tuesday when he was struck.

He was on his way home to Sawtry and police said they thought the man may have been struck by a heavy goods vehicle at 0035 BST.

A passing lorry driver spotted him and called emergency services.

He was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

PC Darren Osker said: "This is an unlit stretch of road and the driver involved may not have realised the collision took place.

"I would appeal to anyone who was driving in the area at the time of the incident or has any information about the collision to contact police."
