Cambridge power cut hits thousands of properties

Nearly 2,300 homes and businesses north of Cambridge have been hit by a power cuts.

A UK Power Networks spokesman said 2,296 properties in the CB4 postcode area lost power following cable damage by a "third party" at about 10:30 BST.

He said everyone affected was back on the grid within 18 minutes.

"We were able to restore supplies to 1,369 customers six minutes later and the remaining 927 customers 18 minutes later," he said.
