Concern for missing Lithuanian mother from Peterborough

Pictures of the last known sighting of a Lithuanian mother missing for nearly a week have been released by police in Peterborough.

Images of Vitalija Baliutaviciene, 29, were caught on CCTV in Tesco, Broadway, at 16:20 BST on 11 August.

She has not been seen since leaving her home in Burmer Road, New England, at 05:10 BST a day later.

"We are very concerned about Vitalija and are keen to speak to anyone who saw her," Det Insp Martin Brunning said.

Police are concentrating on Friday morning but also want to hear from anyone who had contact with her in the week leading up to her disappearance.

Coloured bag

In particular, detectives are keen to hear from people who were in the area of Burmer Road and Thistlemoor Road between 05:00 and 07:00 BST on Friday 12 August.

"Any information, no matter how small, could be vital in finding out what has happened to her," Mr Brunning said.

Ms Baliutaviciene was due to walk down Lincoln Road to an employment agency in Geneva Street, but she did not arrive.

It is believed she was wearing light blue three-quarter length jeans, a denim jacket and light plimsoll trainers. She was also carrying a distinctive coloured bag.

Mr Brunning said: "The bag is brightly coloured and very distinctive. From a distance it looks like a butterfly pattern.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who has seen that bag or found it in a garden since Friday."
