Boy, 4, critically ill after Clacton car crash

A four-year-old boy is critically ill in Great Ormond Street Hospital after a crash in Clacton, Essex.

The boy was in a Ford Fiesta which was in collision with a BMW X5 in Holland Road on Friday evening.

The driver of the Fiesta, a 30-year-old man from Holland-on-Sea, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drinking and driving and careless driving.

The man was released on police bail until 5 January while investigations continue.

The driver of the BMW, a 28-year-old woman, was taken to Colchester Hospital with minor injuries.

Essex Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash to contact them.
