Murder inquiry in Chittering after man's body found

The death of a 76-year-old man at a house in Cambridgeshire is being treated as murder.

Police were called to a house in Ely Road, Chittering, on Sunday afternoon where they found the man's body.

The victim's car, a silver Rover estate registration BJ51 CJV, believed to have been stolen on Saturday evening, was found on Monday morning in Milton.

Police have appealed for anyone who has any information about the man or the car to contact officers.

The car was found in Church Lane, Milton, and is believed to have been there since 23:30 GMT on Saturday.

Det Ch Insp Chris Mead urged anyone who was near the A10 close to the Travellers Rest pub on Saturday night and saw the vehicle or anybody acting suspiciously to call police.

He said: "The car has significant mechanical problems and may have made a lot of noise as it was being driven. It is also unlikely to have reached any great speed."
