Teen biker 'critical' after crash in Essex

A 17-year-old motorcyclist is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car outside a petrol station in Essex.

Police said the boy was fighting for his life at the Royal London Hospital after the crash in Fingringhoe Road, Rowhedge, near Colchester on Monday.

The driver of a Ford Focus involved in the crash, a man in his 40s from the Colchester area, was uninjured.

The motorcyclist suffered head and chest injuries.

A section of the road was closed for four hours while investigators carried out inquiries.
