Thefts in Cambridge clubs on the increase, police warn

Thefts from pubs and clubs in Cambridge are increasing despite more police patrols in the central market area of the city.

Cambridgeshire police are warning late-night revellers after more than 100 incidents were reported between September and November.

In the past month a further 100 thefts, mainly of iPhones, have been reported.

The force said some thefts may have been by organised groups travelling to the city to target busier venues.

Plain-clothed patrols have increased, but officers warned people to leave valuables at home over the New Year weekend.

PC Rob Streater said: "We are working hard to target thieves and arrests have been made, but we also want to prevent crimes happening in the first place."
