Boy, eight, dies as car hits tree in Cambridgeshire

An eight-year-old boy suffered fatal injuries when the car he was in left the road and hit a tree in Cambridgeshire.

The boy, who has not been named, was in a Mazda being heading westbound on the A14 when it left the road near Stow cum Quy, junction 35, on Sunday.

The female driver suffered minor injuries when the car then hit a tree.

But the boy, who is said to be from Suffolk, died later from his injuries at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said: "A member of the public came across the collision and called police at 9am."

The force has not revealed any information about the possible cause of the crash.
