A man has been charged over the theft from a Peterborough charity shop of a Norwich City FC scarf donated by broadcaster Stephen Fry.

Fry was one of a number of celebrities to donate clothing to Age UK's campaign to support the elderly in winter.

Shepherd Gandi, 41, of Percival Street, Peterborough, has been charged with theft by finding.

He appeared at Peterborough Magistrates' Court on Saturday, when the case was adjourned to a later date.

Fry is a lifelong fan of Norwich City and has often been seen with majority shareholder Delia Smith at Carrow Road.

Others donors to the Spread the Warmth campaign include The Saturdays' Mollie King, Geri Halliwell, The Great British Bake Off's Mary Berry and Downton Abbey actress Joanne Froggatt.

The charity is selling the coats and scarves at various branches throughout the UK.
