Ninth human trafficking arrest after Cambridgeshire raids

A ninth person has been arrested on suspicion of human trafficking following a series of raids in Cambridgeshire.

A joint operation in Huntingdon and St Ives in the early hours of Thursday included Cambridgeshire Police and the Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA).

A number of suspected victims of trafficking were also found.

Eight people detained have been bailed until 8 August. Another was released without further action, police said.

The raids, carried out at 05:00 BST, also involved officials from the Border Force, British Red Cross, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service and Huntingdonshire District Council.

Four properties in Huntingdon and one in St Ives were targeted.

Suspected victims of human trafficking were found at two properties and taken to a reception centre.
