A cyclist got trapped in a level crossing after riding under the barriers.

CCTV footage shows the man apparently ignoring the lights, in Cambridge, and riding on to the crossing.

After the barriers fall, he lifts his bike over the gate and climbs over it. The bike is caught in the gate and is lifted in the air as the barrier rises.

British Transport Police said the uninjured man endangered his safety and that of others. He was given a caution.

The incident at Chesterton Junction on Fen Road, East Chesterton, happened in February last year and has been released as part of a safety campaign.

A British Transport spokesman said: "This incident at Chesterton Junction highlights the dangers of ignoring flashing lights at level crossings.

"While the cyclist was not injured, he endangered his safety and that of others with his behaviour."
