Woman overboard rescued in two-hour Lands End search

A woman has been rescued two hours after falling overboard from her yacht off the Cornish Coast as she returned from an Irish regatta.

Falmouth Coastguard was alerted to the incident at about 0100 BST and launched an RAF Chivenor rescue helicopter and two lifeboats.

The woman was found drifting, without a life-jacket, two hours after the search off Land's End began.

She was airlifted to hospital where she was said to be "uninjured".

Falmouth Coastguard watch manager Neil Oliver said: "The woman has been found alive and uninjured.

"We are particularly relieved to have found her since she had been in the sea for two hours, and sea conditions are fairly rough."
