Trees start to 'talk' at Cotehele House

Trees at a National Trust property in Cornwall are using modern technology to talk.

Visitors at Cotehele House near Saltash can listen to the history of the trees along the Talking Trees trail.

In the pilot project, visitors can swipe a pen-like device across any apple logo to hear the recording.

Fifteen audio clips have been recorded which describe the different trees and varieties of apple found in the Cotehele orchard.

Chris Groves, orchard officer at Cotehele, says: "Our aim is to raise awareness of the importance of orchards, and how vital it is to protect the hundreds of different apple varieties we have in this country."
