Cornwall's brand 'gives county economic resilience'
Business leaders have said Cornwall can withstand economic shocks well because of its well-known "brand".
It comes after research for the BBC ranked Cornwall 38th out of 324 areas in England in terms of having resilient sectors such as agriculture, fishing and banking.
The Experian study ranked councils for resilience to future economic hurdles, such as public sector cuts.
Cornwall Business Partnership said more work was needed to build on successes.
Thelma Sorensen, chairman of the partnership, said: "I think that the Cornwall business community has always been pretty resilient, and we have a tremendous brand in 'Brand Cornwall'. The name is extremely strong."
However, Ms Sorensen added that more cross-sector work was needed to not only sustain the county's success, but also to create more in the face of economic difficulties.
She said: "We can weather the coming storm by improving skills and looking to the public sector to provide the right environment in which business can grow.
"It can help by providing the right kind of infrastructure for businesses to grow, roads and ports."
The Experian study also found the county was not as vulnerable as most other areas to declines in disposable income during difficult economic periods, because it had some of the lowest earnings in England.
Cornwall was ranked as third lowest in earnings, behind Torridge in Devon and Boston in Lincolnshire.
However, the county came only 302nd out of 324 in high-growth sectors, such as hi-tech manufacturing.
