Ceiling collapses at Liskeard charity shop

A charity shop in Cornwall has been evacuated after its ceiling collapsed.

The ceiling fell in at the British Red Cross shop in Liskeard at about 1500 BST on Wednesday.

It was thought to have come down because of recent heavy rainfall, the fire service said. The collapse also affected an adjacent building.

A thermal imaging camera was used to search the building for anyone in the store after the collapse. There were no reports of any injuries.

The two Liskeard fire crews helped move the shop's stock and electrical appliances as part of work to make the area safe.

The Red Cross said it was carrying out a clean-up operation in the shop on Thursday and that it planned to reopen it on Friday.
