Public inquiry into plans for 1,300 homes in St Austell

A public inquiry has got under way into plans for a housing development in Cornwall.

Wainhomes wants to build 1,300 homes in the St Austell area, saying the development would benefit the town.

Protesters, including the Save Our Unspoilt Land (Soul) group, said the plans would devastate the area.

The inquiry is being held at the former Restormel Borough Council offices in Penwinnick Road in the town. It is due to take about a week.
