Jobless claimant number up again in Cornwall

There has been a rise in the number of people out of work and claiming benefits in Cornwall.

According to the Office for National Statistics there were 8,305 claimants in November - 683 more than the previous month.

It represents a rate of 2.5% of the population - the equivalent UK rate is 3.5%.

Nationally, the number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance fell by 1,200 to 1.46 million.

It is the third consecutive month there has been a rise in Cornwall.
