A man arrested on suspicion of fraud as he walked around the British coast claiming he was raising money for charity has failed to answer bail.

Matthew Brown, 34, from Edinburgh, said he was a war veteran raising £500,000 for the Help for Heroes charity.

He was arrested in November over a suspected fraud in Newquay, Cornwall, and was due to answer bail on Tuesday.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed officers were currently trying to trace him.

A police spokesman said: "We can confirm a male has failed to comply with police bail twice, whereby efforts are being made to address this issue."

Help for Heroes raises money for servicemen and women wounded in the UK's current conflicts.
