15-year-old youth on Redruth attempted murder charge

A 15-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following an attack on a man in Cornwall.

The victim, in his 50s and named in court as Victor King, suffered serious head injuries during an assault in Redruth on Sunday.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before a youth court in Truro but did not say anything.

The boy has been sent to secure accommodation and is due to appear before the court again next week.

Mr King was injured during the incident in Fore Street at about 2130 BST on Sunday.

He is being treated in the Royal Cornwall Hospital. His condition has been described as serious but stable.

Three girls, two aged 15 and a 16-year-old, were also arrested in connection with the incident. They were released on bail.
