Woman, 76, dies in road accident near Truro

A 76-year-old woman has died in a road accident in Cornwall.

The collision involved a single Peugeot 307 with two occupants at Trispen on the A39, near Truro, at about 1215 BST, police said.

The driver, a man in his 70s, was treated for shock at the scene and taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

His female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Both are believed to be from the St Austell area.

Roads were closed at Carland Cross on the A30/A39 junction, and south of Trispen, for police to carry out an investigation.
