Man on fraud charges after Help for Heroes walk claims

A man arrested after he claimed he was walking the coast of Britain to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity has appeared in court in Cornwall.

Matthew Brown, 35, from Inverness, is facing three charges of fraud.

Magistrates in Bodmin were told he had portrayed himself as a war hero and a former armed forces member while collecting for the charity in November.

There was no application for bail. Mr Brown was remanded in custody to appear before magistrates on 22 June.
