Bangladeshi men await deportation after Helston raid

Four men from Bangladesh are awaiting deportation following a raid at a property in Cornwall.

Officials from the UK Border Agency searched the property on Vyvyan Place, Helston on Thursday after they received local information.

The men aged 26, 32, 33 and 36 were arrested for over-staying their visas.

All four were taken to Camborne police station before being transferred to an immigration detention centre pending their removal from the UK.

Officers said two of the men had attempted to run from the house during the raid, a third man was found hiding in a bathroom and the fourth was hiding in a wardrobe.

Kenny Chapman, from the UK Border Agency said: "We carry out regular operations across Cornwall targeting immigration offenders at businesses and home addresses.

"We are sending a simple, clear message to people flouting the law - more raids are planned and you will be caught."
